Generic reference
Generic reference is used to talk about a whole class or group of things rather than one specific member. It is commonly expressed using plural nouns without articles or the definite article with a singular noun.

When we talk about things in general, we use generic reference. This allows us to make statements about every member of a group or the characteristics of a species. There are three main ways to do this: using plural nouns, using the definite article with a singular noun, or using the indefinite article with a singular noun.

- Plural nouns (no article): The most common way to generalize.
