Derived from a catchphrase associated with Bender, the robot protagonist of the television series *Futurama*, which debuted in 1999. The construction functions as an elaboration of the established insults *bite my ass* and *bite me*, modified to reflect the character’s mechanical composition.
A similar variation, *kiss my shiny plastic butt*, appears in the 1998 horror film *Bride of Chucky*. This usage predates Bender by a year, suggesting the aesthetic appeal of polished synthetic surfaces was already well-recognised in the late 20th-century lexicon of dismissal.
