Origin

first recorded 20th c.

From a catchphrase of Bender, the rebellious robot character from the cartoon show Futurama (that first aired in 1999), which originally came from bite my ass; compare bite me. Predating Bender's use of the phrase, the similar phrasing "kiss my shiny plastic butt" is used in the 1998 slasher horror film Bride of Chucky.
